Recent Updates at Autocrossing.com

I posted over 110 pictures from the August 21st autocross in the Action Photos area. Not all of them are that great. In fact a lot of them are blurry, but I decided it was time to post up a more complete gallery than usual for an autocross. Enjoy!

For the first time in a VERY long time, I actually posted up a new road trip photo-writeup from my weekend drive out to the Painted Rocks Petroglyph Site out west of Gila Bend, AZ. It has some rather technical stuff about a new data display/collection device I bought called the ScanGauge, but the rest of it is pretty much your standard fare roadtrip story.

It's about a month late, but I finally remembered I was supposed to post up event photos from the September 19th US Drift Practice at Firebird Raceway. It's broken down into four sections: Grip, Drift, Spins, and Understeer. Check it out in the Action Photos area.

I put off posting them up for a while, but I have two new galleries of drifting photos posted in the Action Photos area. The first was at Tucson Raceway Park taken in March. The other is from PIR in May. I had actually posted all the photos a few days after the events but I only put the photos up on a few messageboards, I never got around to actually putting the links on the main page here. If you like drifting photos though, check them out, especially the NASA US Drift event at PIR.

New pictures again this weekend. This time they're from the partially rainy February 22nd NASA High Performance Driver's Education groups at PIR. I mainly just went out to get a few pictures of Brady's car on the track with his new wheels, but there were a lot of other pretty cool cars, so I got some pictures of other cars as well. I briefly had some camera trouble, possibly caused by too much camera movement with the Image Stabilizer on, and after shutting that off, everything seemed to work just fine. Lots of drift action out at the track, intentional and otherwise, but it looked like a fun event and there were no incidents other than a CRX brushing the inside wall in turn 1.

Since getting my new Canon Digital Rebel camera and 75-300mm lens, I've been keeping myself busy doing more and more photography. The latest update is of the February AZ Region Solo2 event. I shot 800 pictures, about 600 of which were blurry because I was using shutter speeds that were just plain too slow for such a long lens. So.. maybe 100-200 of them turned out, 30 of which I decided to put online. If there's anything that I learned today, it's that shooting all the cars for a whole event is a lot of work! As much as I like photography, I think having to do that very often would get old in a big hurry. Still, it was pretty fun, and I may put up a second gallery of the "rest" of the pictures anyway, but at lower resolution so it doesn't completely hog all my disk and bandwidth.
